Leah + Stephen
I get a lot of people coming in front of my lens that say something along the lines of “I’ve never done this” or “I am not photogenic” or “I never know what to do”. Just so you know, (yup, my brain also went to that Jessie McCartney song) you are not alone! But, what I can guarantee is that no matter how strongly you feel these things, I will always strive to get you out of that mentality.
I choose to have fun, chat and get to know you during your session. I want to hear your stories, I want to know you hobbies and learn about your relationship. I want you to walk away, relived, pleased and your cheeks hurting because you had so much unexpected fun. I supposed you’ll just have to book your own session to see what I mean, but these two certainly learned this lesson. Leah and Stephen were nervous when we first met up. Unsure of wha too do with their hands, of what to expect. They warmed up though, just like everyone else and rocked this session!
When I asked Stephen what his favourite thing about Leah was (she had gone to change her outfit) he just shook his head, smiled bashfully and said “Everything” with the kind of wonder in his voice that make me want to happy dance. Get this, their favourite pass time? Cuddling. They just moved in together and can’t get enough of time spent in the same space. He’s a cook at Mexicali Rosa’s ( I know what you’re thinking. I have a new connection for good margs! But listen, I do TRY to keep my client relationships profesional so I won’t be dropping his name next time I’m at Dow’s Lake.). She is a child and youth worker and has her own program. I am in awe of these two and the way they interact not only with eachother, but with the world.
When asked to dance, they did not hesitate to proudly start salsa dancing in the middle of a crowded park. These are my kind people!
